Español con el Quijote is an initiative of a group of enterprising friends from Almedina (Spain) and Holland. We all have different backgrounds, differing from philology, educational sciences, pedagogics, psychology to architecture. With these different backgrounds we think we are a nice diverse and skillful group, capable of realizing our common goal; educating the Spanish language and culture in a fun way from our beatiful region in the heart of Spain.
JOSE MIGUEL MEGÍA RIVERA
José works as an architect within his own studio in Villanueva de los Infantes. He speaks English and Italian (mid – high level) and he is learning French and Arabic (low level). As architect he contributed in various research groups and also in Almedina he designed several projects that can be visited. He loves a good conversation, playing guitar and saxophone, travelling and meeting people.
Malou has an academic degree in clinical (neuro) psychology and works as a psychologist. She speaks Dutch (native), English (high level) and Spanish (mid – high level). In Utrecht she once set up the foundation ‘BuddyGoDutch’ to promote cultural integration between international and Dutch students. At the moment she is busy with a new challenge: spreading the Spanish language and culture through our school Español con el Quijote. In her free time she loves playing guitar, singing and traveling.
ROBERTO ARIAS GONZÁLEZ
Roberto has a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s degree in sports education. He is native in Spanish and speaks English as well (intermediate level). He worked as a trainer in several different sports, however, his specialty is soccer. In his spare time he plays football, not just in Almedina but at a semi- professional level. He also loves to cook.
FRANCISCO JAVIER RIVERA GÓMEZ
Fran is educated as elementary school teacher with a specialization in ICT. Within Almedina he is involved in the organization of various cultural activities like the festival ‘Almedina Rock’. He worked in his own company ‘Graphic Arts’ but after several years he rediscovered his calling to teach. And so, currently he is working as a teacher. He is passionate about computers and the world of new technologies. He loves cooking, traveling and more mundane things like a good conversation or drinking typical Spanish ‘cañas’ (beers).
NURIA FERNÁNDEZ RIVERA
Nuria is educated as elementary school teacher with a specialization in special education. By means of various courses she qualified herself in the English language and ICT. She worked at a day care centre and thought children various subjects at the toy library in Almedina. She enjoys reading, tinkering, music and singing. She loves spending time with her family and friends, drinking a beer with them or watching a movie together.
